Saints Win the 2010 Super Bowl

It’s the biggest game of the year. People go the whole year with out watching a single football game, but when the Super bowl comes around everyone seems to become a die hard fan of the NFL. This past Sunday, February 7, The NFL’s two best teams squared off in an epic battle to the end. The Saints came into this game with one goal in mind. That goal was to bring hope to the city of New Orleans. With the hearts of America on their side, the Saints pulled off a historic victory against the Indianapolis Colts. Once down 10-0 in the first quarter the Saints never gave up hope and kept fighting for their city. After the final whistle blew the Saints had a prevailing victory of 31-17. The Saints may have been the underdog in this game but some say that they may have had destiny on their side. With a flawless game Saints’ Quarterback, Drew Brees brought a Super bowl Title to his team and also took home the MVP award. No matter who you were pulling for this past Sunday their has to be some sense of happiness for the Saints and the city of New Orleans for overcoming the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Powderpuff

On the night of January 28, 2010 the Anual Powderpuff football game took place. The game started at 6pm and ended a little after 7pm. In this Senior vs. Juniors event, Seniors won 18 to 0. The JV football players substituded as the cheerleaders for the evening. Drew Greer was crowned the PowderPuff Queen of 2010. Afterwards student council held a car bash/bonfire complete with roasted marshmellows. Students took turns bashing the car with sledge hammers and eventually the car was flipped over. It was a sight to see.

Powder-puff 2010

The powder-puff game is on Thursday, January 28^th at 6:00pm. Admission is $3.00 which is at steal considering all that there is to offer.

Powder-puff is an annual event BHP hosts where girls play the football game while sophomore football players play the part as cheerleaders. Senior and junior varsity will be the coaches this year. There will be hot chocolate and tasty treats served during powder-puff.

This year there will also be a powder-puff queen. Students will vote during lunch for their sophomore football player to win the title of powder-puff queen. One vote costs one penny but higher currency will cancel out a hopefuls vote.

After the powder-puff game, join us for a bonfire and a car bashing. But be sure to dress warm for the cold weather!

BHP Soccer

The BHP Bears Soccer Season is underway as players are beginning conditioning. These players are working extremely hard for the upcoming season. Some returning players include Clay Berlin, Zack Wilson, Richard Dorn, and Christian Quales. This season appears to be promising. The Lady Bears Soccer team are also preparing for the upcoming season. We wish both teams luck.

Homecoming 2009-BHP vs. Daniel

In the biggest game of the season, BHP tried their hardest against “powerhouse” Daniel but still came up short with a score of 28-7.

In the first quarter, the atmosphere on the field and throughout the bleachers was filled with excitement. This feeling escalated when BHP scored the first touchdown of the game. Disappointment arose shortly afterward when Daniel scored two consecutive touchdowns in less than thirty seconds by intercepting the ball. This disappointment was intensified not by the players but by the fans exiting the stands, thus causing the spirits of the players to deteriorate. Daniel later scored two touchdowns while BHP lost hope.

Though the game was not a success, BHP had some extraordinary players. Among these players was Andrew Cox, who intercepted a seemingly uncatchable ball. The defense was also an honorable mention, especially in the first quarter.

BHP will play Seneca this coming Friday. Will the Bears be able to overcome the loss they experienced against Daniel?

J.V. Season

The J.V. Bears football team is preparing for their seventh game against their rival, Daniel. This game should be a huge challenge but a good match up. The Bears started their season strong with a 2-0 record before falling short at home to Wren with a score of 22-28. Since the loss, the Bears have remained unbeaten for three straight weeks. The J.V. Bears have performed really great this season considering their recent blowout win against Pickens, 31-0. The Bears vs. Daniel game should be a great show.

BHP vs. Laurens

In the opening game of the season BHP has a rough start against Laurens, but no one lost hope. In order to support our Bears team and troops overseas, a majority of the fans wore red and painted their bodies with the letters B-E-A-R-S. The cheering of the crowd and cheerleaders helped during the second quarter. Our newest player Dajun Martin is starting off good here at BHP being his first year playing on the Bears team. When he ran for the touchdown line the crowd went crazy, he scores the first touchdown of the season. Our second touchdown was scored by senior Nino Woolridge, one of last years star players. Once the score hit 19 to 21 the Bear fans were on the edges of their seats. When BHP got to the last quarter, the Bears final score was 26 to 21. All the bear fans began to scream and shout, celebrating the first win of the season. What a night!
